JOB SUMMARY:
The Manager of Alumni Affairs leads the design and implementation of initiatives and campaigns that strengthen AU’s relationship with its graduates in the UAE and worldwide. This role manages alumni councils, chapters, and alumni events, while also developing initiatives in collaboration with AU’s colleges to engage alumni and strengthen their connection to the university. The Manager works closely with the Office of Advancement to identify alumni with the potential to become donors, support cultivation and stewardship efforts, oversee alumni communications and data management, and develop recognition programs that celebrate alumni achievements.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement the University’s Alumni Affairs strategy in alignment with institutional goals.
- Provide leadership and direction to the Alumni Affairs team, ensuring delivery of impactful programs.
- Prepare and manage the Alumni Affairs budget, monitoring expenses and optimizing resources.
- Work closely with the Office of Advancement to identify alumni with donor potential and support cultivation and stewardship efforts.
- Build strong alumni relationships and networks, fostering engagement, advocacy, and philanthropic support.
- Manage volunteers and alumni leaders, including the Alumni Council and International Chapters, by supporting their meetings and guiding them to achieve their mission.
- Plan, manage, and deliver major alumni events including conferences, galas, reunions, and gatherings, that strengthen alumni pride and connection to AU.
- Collaborate with colleges to engage alumni in mentorship, advisory roles, and academic programs.
- Oversee alumni communications across newsletters, social media, web, and digital platforms to ensure meaningful engagement.
- Manage the alumni database and CRM systems, ensuring accuracy, segmentation, reporting, and data-driven insights.
- Develop recognition programs that highlight and celebrate distinguished alumni achievements.
- Represent the University at alumni events and external forums to promote AU’s mission and reputation.
- Monitor, evaluate, and report on alumni engagement initiatives to drive continuous improvement.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to the overall success of Alumni Affairs and the University.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, including at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Proficiency in both Arabic and English (written and spoken) to effectively engage diverse alumni and stakeholders.
- Experience in alumni relations, advancement, public relations, or a related field within higher education or non-profit sectors.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
- Proven ability to develop and implement strategic plans that enhance alumni engagement and institutional advancement.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with experience guiding staff and volunteers.
- Demonstrated success in planning and executing large-scale events such as conferences, galas, and alumni gatherings.
- Budget management experience with the ability to optimize resources effectively.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and sustain relationships across diverse constituencies.
- Experience with alumni databases, CRM systems, and digital engagement platforms.
- Knowledge of the higher education sector and alumni engagement best practices.
- Flexible, collaborative, and willing to travel as required to represent the University and engage alumni internationally.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Work is primarily performed in a standard office environment.
- The role requires flexibility, with occasional work outside normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays for alumni events and special engagements.
- May be subject to “on-call” responsibilities in case of urgent matters or emergencies.
