Teach For India is on a journey to reach an India free of poverty and filled with love by ending educational inequity in our country. Fifteen years into our journey we are a movement of ~5000+ Alumni working at all levels of the education system, who are reaching 1 in 10 children across the country. These Alumni have graduated from our two-year Fellowship Program where they taught in under-resourced classrooms to put ~33,500 low-income children on a different life path. Today, we have ~1000 Fellows and are the largest pipeline of driven, skilled talent into the educational ecosystem in India. Over 16,000 Teach For India students have appeared for the 10th grade board examinations till date, with an impressive 95% pass rate across cities as of November 2024.

In 2022, we embarked on Phase 4, our fourth strategic phase. We have a bold and ambitious ten-year journey ahead of us that aims to grow 50,000 leaders, who will work collectively, and with love, to transform the lives of 1 in 10 low-income children in our regions, through an education that unleashes the potential of self, others and India. In this decade, five key priorities will lead us to this vision.

  • Strengthen our core Fellowship to build strong teacher leaders who provide an excellent and equitable education to our children and continue to do so beyond the Fellowship
  • Scale our impact by strategically introducing additional Fellowships as alternative pathways for leadership development
  • Match the Alumni of our programs at an intersection of their interests and the needs of the system and our children
  • Advocate for key issues that impact educational equity, and engage 3.5% of the population in the movement for educational equity
  • Act collectively with our Alumni to learn about and address key issues in our regions.

Position Summary

Reporting to: Senior Manager or Director, TFIx (TBC)

Directly Managing: Associate, Recruitment and Selection

The Manager, Recruitment & Selection will lead the design and execution of TFIx’s recruitment and selection processes to ensure the onboarding of a strong, value-aligned, and diverse cohort of entrepreneurs year on year. Working closely with the Senior Manager, Enablers and Incubation, this role is critical to building rigour, consistency, and depth across outreach, applicant experience, assessment, and decision-making.

The role involves owning end-to-end recruitment and selection cycles - including co-creating strategy, timelines, tools, selector engagement, data tracking, and continuous process improvement. The Manager will collaborate closely with the Marketing, Partnerships, and Program teams to ensure recruitment efforts are targeted, inclusive, and aligned with TFIx’s long-term vision of building strong cohorts that drive meaningful impact.

TFIx is a critical vertical within the Teach For India organisational structure that enables the expansion of our mission and impact into India’s most marginalised and vulnerable populations and the very last mile. Its mission is to develop leaders who will transform education by reaching children in every corner of India. To enable the same, TFIx delivers a robust 3-part incubation and entrepreneurship program to cohorts of leaders on an annual basis.

The program, grown over 8+ years, has expanded to reach over 6 lakh children across 55 Fellowship programs, through 72 education entrepreneurs and leaders, and 6000+ active Fellows. The program adopts a range of learning methods from immersive learning circles and site visits to online and peer learning, individual mentorship, module-style skill development, and real-life application and program delivery.

Responsibilities

As a Manager - Recruitment and Selection, responsibilities include:

Recruitment

  • Execute TFIx’s recruitment strategy to build a high-quality and diverse cohort of entrepreneurs each year.
  • Proactively source, cultivate, and manage a strong pipeline of prospective entrepreneurs aligned with TFIx’s values and Fellowship model.
  • Develop and sustain partnerships with social sector organisations and ecosystem partners to strengthen outreach and applicant sourcing.
  • Provide structured support to high-potential applicants through feedback, milestone tracking, and readiness-building for the Incubation year.
  • Travel to underserved and hard-to-reach geographies to identify, engage, and assess potential applicants.

Selection

  • Design and implement a rigorous, fair, and values-aligned selection process for TFIx cohorts.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders involved in the selection process to ensure consistency, quality, and timely execution.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and analyse recruitment and selection dashboards to enable data-informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Partner with the Marketing team and external stakeholders to strengthen the TFIx brand, outreach strategy, and recruitment pipelines.
  • Participate in relevant program spaces to build a holistic understanding of the Incubation experience and inform recruitment and selection strategies.
  • Act as a steward of TFIx culture, representing its values and ways of working in all internal and external engagements.

As a Manager at Teach For India

  • Contributing to the team goals and priorities beyond individual goals and priorities
  • Driving internal alignment and support for Teach For India’s core Programs
  • Serving as an ambassador of Teach For India and an advocate for our work and for educational equity in our country through both internal and external communication after committing time in our classrooms to understand our work more deeply
  • Supporting with key organizational areas such as Recruitment, Selection, Fundraising, Volunteering, and Movement Building.

Minimum Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • Graduate with 3+ years of work experience
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including experience with presentations and story-telling
  • Strong facilitation skills
  • Ability to effectively engage with multiple audiences, internal teams, external stakeholders (ex. Leadership team, partners, etc.), and entrepreneurs/social impact leaders
  • Ability to execute in an entrepreneurial, resource-restricted environment
  • Strong time management and project management skills to be able to lead multiple time-bound projects simultaneously
  • Analytical mindset and comfort with engaging with data, trends and insights

Preferred Qualifications, Experiences and Expectations

  • Past experience (at least 2 years) in the education sector/ecosystem in India
  • Past engagement or immersion in the Teach For India network
  • Exposure to or experience working in rural markets and rural context
