To manage direct and indirect taxation functions of the organization, ensure statutory compliance, optimize tax planning, and handle assessments, audits, and litigation related to construction and real estate operations.
Key Responsibilities1. Indirect Taxation (Primary Focus – GST)
- Ensure timely and accurate filing of GST returns (GSTR-1, GSTR-3B, GSTR-9, etc.)
- Manage project-wise GST compliance including:
- Input Tax Credit (ITC) reconciliation
- RCM compliance
- GST on works contracts & construction services
- Vendor GST compliance monitoring and reconciliation
- Handling GST notices, assessments, and departmental audits
- Managing GST implications under RERA-based invoicing
- Coordination with consultants on GST litigation matters
2. Direct Taxation
- Computation and review of:
- Advance Tax
- TDS / TCS compliance
- Income Tax provisions
- Filing of TDS returns and Form 26Q/24Q
- Ensuring compliance under the Income Tax Act, 1961
- Handling income tax scrutiny assessments and notices
- Coordination for tax audit under Section 44AB
- Managing Form 15CA/15CB for foreign remittances (if applicable)
3. Construction-Specific Tax Compliance
- Tax treatment for:
- Joint Development Agreements (JDA)
- Land procurement & development
- Escrow transactions
- Retention money & milestone-based billing
- Ensuring proper accounting of project-wise tax provisions
- Monitoring tax impact on revenue recognition (Percentage Completion Method)
4. Statutory & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensuring compliance under:
- Goods and Services Tax Act
- Income Tax Act, 1961
- Companies Act, 2013
- Managing internal and statutory audits
- Preparing tax reports for Board review
5. Advisory & Planning
- Tax planning and optimization strategies
- Advising management on tax implications of new projects
- Structuring contracts to minimize tax risks
- Keeping management updated on amendments in tax laws affecting construction
6. Team Management
- Supervising tax executives and accounts staff
- Coordinating with external consultants, auditors, and government authorities
- Conducting internal tax awareness sessions for project teams
Qualification
- CA -Inter / CMA-Inter / MBA (Finance)
- 10-12 years of experience in taxation within Construction / Real Estate / Infrastructure industry
