Job Purpose
The Marketing & Communications Assistant is a seasonal position that plays a key role in supporting marketing and outreach efforts to promote the mission and initiatives of Sullivan 180.
The Marketing & Communications Assistant will work closely with both the Marketing & Events Manager Director of Community Development & Communications on a range of marketing-focused tasks, including developing marketing materials, coordinating content, and supporting campaign execution. The primary focus of this position is communications and digital marketing. Specific projects will be identified through clear timelines and deliverables. This position offers hands-on experience in nonprofit marketing while contributing to the advancement of Sullivan 180’s initiatives to improve community health.
Specific duties include:

Assist in the execution of marketing campaigns and digital outreach initiatives.

Draft social media posts, e-update content, and promotional materials from outlined prompts.

Assist with reviewing and editing press releases, editorials, and marketing materials as appropriate.

Track and report engagement metrics across social media, e-updates, and website platforms.

Coordinate with staff to gather photos, quotes, and updates for marketing deliverables.

Maintain organized digital photo and marketing asset libraries.

Draft and prepare marketing materials and internal tracking documents.

Assist with promotional materials and content capture for select community events as needed.

Collaborate with team members to ensure marketing deliverables align with organizational goals.
Other duties include:

Supporting staff across various program areas as needed.

Undertaking administrative tasks to facilitate program implementation.

Participating in meetings, events, and training sessions.

Performing other duties as assigned to meet organizational needs.
Qualifications:

Recent graduate with a degree in communications, journalism, English, public relations, marketing, digital media, or related field; or current college student entering junior year or above pursuing the same.

Detail-oriented with strong organizational, communication, and writing skills.

Experience with Canva and familiarity with social media platforms (Meta, Instagram, LinkedIn) preferred.

Ability to drive and access reliable transportation to travel for meetings.

Ability to work effectively with individuals across diverse communities, institutional partners, and governmental agencies Cultural competency to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Must exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain the highest professional ethics.

Mission-driven and interested in community and public health.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Familiarity with Sullivan County geography, agencies and organizations preferred.

Ability to work independently from outlined prompts and manage multiple deadlines with minimal supervision.
This position is seasonal, running from late May/early June through late August, 16-24 hours per week.
