The Marketing Automation Intern is tasked with supporting the IEEE Enterprise marketing automation operations and will be co-responsible for scheduling, execution, coordination, quality, and compliance of assigned IEEE managed email marketing outreaches. These outreaches may be one-time communications or multi-stage programs, and often include promotions tied to IEEE products and services. This role works within the Brand, Marketing & Communications Department on the Marketing Automation and Business Intelligence Team.
The Marketing Automation Intern will learn and be tasked with understanding customer goals and drive program experimentation in a data-driven manner to support marketing automation programs and enhance overall member/customer user experiences. This position seeks to gain hands-on experience to the existing marketing technology stack of tools including Marketo. This internship will also provide the incumbent with experience in a fast pace and high volume environment and will assist in identifying strategic and tactical areas of improvement related to the service.
The Marketing Automation Intern is also responsible for applying logic and creativity in strategic initial planning, implementation, monitoring, optimization, analysis and reporting of all activities provided through the service. This position identifies and delivers ad hoc reports and dashboards for analysis to answer key questions regarding member/customer and campaign performance.
The incumbent strives to drive project growth while seeking opportunities to expand upon existing business. This may include facilitating collaboration, template management, and/or coordinating shared marketing programs among IEEE OUs.
The individual also aids in support of ongoing or new IEEE projects to ensure deadlines are met. In addition, they provide support for the Display Advertising program and related business intelligence and analytical services as necessary.
This is a high contact position, requiring independent judgment and the ability to communicate effectively.
Bachelor's degree or graduating senior
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Marketing/Communication, Management, Computer Science or other technology field preferred (equivalent experience in lieu of degree will be considered)
Preferred Experience:
Must have experience in campaign or email marketing communication administration or analysis, customer/client service, HTML coding, and demonstrated understanding of eCommerce technologies (platforms, recommendation engines, etc.) and key trends (mobile, social, SEO, etc.), list services, CRM or other demographic understanding
Experience with Marketing Automation Platforms, preferably Marketo. Requires experience in nurturing leads, performing drip campaigns, and building/measuring marketing campaigns that boost customer retention and enhance the overall customer journey
Experience with Smartsheets
Experience with data analytics and visualization tools, such as Tableau
Demonstrated experience in these areas a strong plus: Project scheduling, Data analysis, Customer relationship management tools, Web development and graphic design
