The Marketing & Communications Manager will play a central role in elevating this work—strengthening how we communicate our education, research, and community engagement efforts to clinicians, partners, and the broader kidney health ecosystem.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Marketing & Communications Manager is a hands-on, mission-driven role responsible for the day-to-day execution of GlomCon’s marketing, communications, and brand presence. This person will personally create and produce visual content,including website pages, social media graphics, email campaigns, and other marketing collateral.—.

Working closely with senior leadership, the Marketing & Communications Manager will translate GlomCon’s complex medical mission into compelling, accessible content that resonates with diverse audiences: nephrologists, researchers, patients, caregivers, donors, and the broader public. This role requires a creative professional who thrives doing the design and communications work themselves every day, bringing discipline and quality to every channel and deliverable.

In this capacity, the Marketing & Communications Manager serves as the primary executor of strategies developed in partnership with GlomCon's leadership team and external advisors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Day-to-Day Design & Content Creation (Hands-On)

  • Design and produce graphics for social media posts, event promotions, program announcements, infographics, and patient education materials using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
  • Create and update website pages and layouts in Wix or similar development applications, ensuring a polished, accessible, and user-friendly experience across all GlomCon digital properties (glomcon.org, program sites, conference sites).
  • Develop and produce email newsletters, campaign assets, reports, and presentation materials with consistent branding.
  • Edit and produce short-form video content using CapCut or similar tools for social media and program promotion.
  • Maintain and manage the marketing editorial calendar, ensuring a steady cadence of quality content across all channels.

Social Media & Digital Engagement

  • Plan, create, schedule, and actively manage content across all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, X/Twitter, YouTube).
  • Engage with the nephrology community, patients, partners, and followers through timely responses, conversation, and community-building efforts.
  • Monitor platform analytics to track engagement, reach, and audience growth; adjust strategies based on data.
  • Apply SEO best practices to website content and optimize digital marketing campaigns for visibility and conversion.

Brand Stewardship

  • Maintain and apply GlomCon's established brand guidelines consistently across all channels and programs, including PACE, Glompedia, GlomCon Fellowship, EMBARK, MIPiN, GlomCon Hawaii, and the Centers of Excellence initiative.
  • Flag brand inconsistencies and recommend tactical adjustments to leadership.
  • Ensure all content reflects GlomCon's voice, tone, and visual identity standards across every deliverable.

Communications & Storytelling

  • Develop storytelling frameworks that translate complex medical education, research milestones, and patient experiences into compelling narratives.
  • Draft press releases, media kits, talking points, and leadership communications for program launches, conference announcements, and partnership milestones.
  • Cultivate relationships with media contacts and coordinate interviews, placements, and earned media opportunities.
  • Support crisis communications response as directed by leadership.

Stakeholder Engagement & Program Support

  • Support fundraising and development initiatives through strategic communications materials, donor-facing collateral, and campaign messaging.
  • Partner with program managers and clinical leadership to plan targeted marketing efforts for seminars, fellowship programs, conferences, and patient engagement activities.
  • Facilitate internal communications to ensure staff and stakeholders are aligned and informed.
  • Contribute marketing expertise for grant proposals, sponsorship packages, and event marketing.
  • Ensure all communications meet accessibility standards and inclusive design practices, reflecting GlomCon’s commitment to equity and global representation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in marketing and communications, with demonstrated hands-on design and content creation responsibilities.
  • Proven track record executing multi-channel marketing campaigns with measurable results.
  • Experience applying and maintaining brand guidelines across diverse content types and platforms.
  • Nonprofit experience strongly preferred; healthcare or medical education background is a significant plus.

Design & Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in graphic design tools: Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, or equivalent—this is a daily, hands-on requirement.
  • Strong working knowledge of Wix website management, including page creation, layout, and content updates.
  • Experience with video editing tools (CapCut or similar) for short-form content production.
  • Proficiency with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact), social media management tools, and content scheduling platforms.
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics, SEO tools, and social media analytics platforms.

Core Competencies

  • Exceptional visual design sense with an eye for layout, typography, color, and brand consistency.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate complex medical and scientific topics into clear, engaging content for diverse audiences.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, deadlines, and stakeholders simultaneously.
  • Data-driven mindset: comfortable analyzing metrics, deriving insights, and adjusting campaign execution based on performance data.
  • Creative problem-solving, initiative, and a bias toward action—able to work independently in a remote environment.
  • Cultural competency and genuine commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and global representation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience supporting conference marketing, event promotion, and hybrid/virtual event communications.
