Roles & Responsibilities
- Collaborate with project managers, designers, and engineers to understand project requirements and specifications for materials.
- Study the project tender documents including BOQ, drawings, specifications and prepare material log.
- Research and evaluate materials based on design, durability, cost, and environmental impact, and recommend suitable options for specific project needs.
- Prepare material submittals, including technical data, performance criteria, and quality standards, ensuring compliance with project requirements and industry regulations.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain technical data sheets, product samples, and quotations.
- Organize materials approval meetings/selection with clients and ensure approved materials are labelled and communicated with the concerned departments.
- Submit materials by strictly adhering to the project program plan.
- Review material submittals and samples submitted by suppliers, ensuring compliance with specified requirements and budget constraints.
- Coordinate with procurement team for supplier sources and sharing the material approvals for procuring purpose.
- Provide technical support to project teams and address any material-related issues or concerns during the construction phase.
- Maintain organized records of material specifications, approvals, and documentation for reference and audit purposes.
- Attend allotted project internal/external meetings.
- Strong understanding of material properties relevant to interiors such as wood, metal, glass, stone, fabrics, laminates, and composite materials.
- Proficient in reviewing and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Familiarity with local and international standards related to building materials, fire safety, sustainability, and quality.
- Capable of preparing technical submittals, data sheets, and material compliance documentation.
- Knowledge of testing procedures for durability, performance, and safety of materials.
