About the Role

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with strong hands-on CAD experience and a passion for UAV development. The ideal candidate will have a background in aerospace mechanical design, with direct experience designing fixed-wing aircraft, multirotors, and mechanical sub-systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams in composites, manufacturing, avionics, and systems integration to translate aerodynamic and structural requirements into manufacturable designs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop UAV structures, mechanisms, and components for fixed-wing and multirotor platforms.
  • Create detailed 3D CAD models and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Collaborate with aerodynamics and composites teams to optimize designs for weight, manufacturability, and structural integrity.
  • Support mould and tool design for composite fabrication and part manufacturing.
  • Perform tolerance analysis, design validation, and integration of mechanical subsystems (actuators, payload mounts, landing gear, etc.).
  • Work with CAM and manufacturing engineers to ensure seamless transition from design to production.
  • Participate in design reviews, prototype testing, and continuous improvement of airframe configurations.
  • Maintain documentation, BOMs, and revision control in alignment with company configuration management standards.

Required Qualifications

  • B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of mechanical design experience, preferably in UAV, aerospace, or automotive sectors.
  • Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modeling, assemblies, drawings, configurations).
  • Proven experience in fixed-wing and multirotor UAV design — including airframe, fuselage, and component design.
  • Experience with mould and tool design for composites manufacturing.
  • Good understanding of composite materials, lay-up methods, and structural behavior.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes (CNC, 3D printing, vacuum forming, RTM, etc.).
  • Basic knowledge of CAM or manufacturing simulation workflows (plus).

Preferred Attributes

  • Prior exposure to high-performance UAV development environments.
  • Experience working closely with composite manufacturing teams.
  • Understanding of aerodynamic and structural trade-offs in UAV design.
  • Strong sense of ownership, precision, and iterative problem-solving.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, hands-on R&D environment.
