Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and commissioning of mechanical systems for cutting-edge data center projects.
The role involves end-to-end ownership of mechanical systems—from conceptual design and Basis of Design (BOD) to Issued-for-Construction (IFC) documentation, installation, Testing & Commissioning (T&C), and final handover. The ideal candidate ensures all systems are optimized for reliability, efficiency, and compliance with international standards and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design & Documentation: Lead the development of mechanical system designs for data centers, including HVAC, chilled water (CHW), water supply, drainage, and firefighting systems. Prepare detailed technical specifications, sequences of operation, and IFC-ready layouts.
- Project Coordination & Execution: Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including electrical, civil, fire protection, and IT—to ensure smooth project execution and timely delivery.
- Site Management: Oversee installation and commissioning of in-row cooling units, CRAH, and CRAC systems, ensuring proper CHW connections, drainage, and operational readiness. Manage and resolve site-level MEP issues promptly.
- Technical Leadership: Review and respond to engineering Requests for Information (RFIs), providing technical solutions in coordination with the Engineer of Record (EOR) and project stakeholders.
- Innovation & Technology Integration: Support adoption of new technologies by providing site-specific design inputs and ensuring compatibility with operational requirements.
- Quality & Compliance: Lead inspections, Testing & Commissioning (T&C), and system handover. Ensure mechanical systems meet international standards, local regulations, safety codes, and best practices for mission-critical environments.
- Continuous Improvement: Proactively identify engineering challenges and recommend solutions to optimize system performance, reduce risks, and improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
- Minimum 4-10 years of experience in MEP systems, preferably in data center, mission-critical, or large commercial facilities.
- Proven expertise in HVAC, chilled water systems, water supply, drainage, fire protection systems, and data center mechanical infrastructure.
- Hands-on experience with design documentation, IFC drawings, technical specifications, and sequences of operation.
- Strong knowledge of international standards, local authority requirements, and data center best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and lead projects from design through commissioning and handover.
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in AutoCAD drafting and design.
- Highly competent in computer applications, including MS Office tools, with strong presentation and documentation skills.
