Mechanical Inspector – Consultancy (Buildings)
Location: Duhail, Doha, Qatar
Contract: 12‑month fixed‑term (with high potential for extension)
Start Date: Immediate

About the Role

Our client, a leading engineering consultancy specializing in building projects across the Gulf region, is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join a high‑performing team of professionals. The successful candidate will be responsible for the on‑site inspection, verification, and quality control of all mechanical systems installed on commercial and residential building projects. This role requires a solid technical background, strong attention to detail, and proven experience working within a consultancy environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect & Verify
  • Conduct systematic inspections of mechanical installations (HVAC, plumbing, fire‑suppression, piping, ductwork, equipment and accessories) to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings, specifications, codes, and standards (e.g., Qatar Construction Specifications, ASHRAE, NFPA).
  • Verify proper material handling, storage, and protection on‑site.
  • Quality Control & Documentation
  • Prepare detailed inspection reports, non‑conformance logs, and daily progress records; issue punch‑lists and follow‑up on corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate inspection data in the project’s QA/QC database and ensure timely submission to the client and consultancy quality team.
  • Coordination & Communication
  • Liaise with design engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and client representatives to resolve technical queries and design discrepancies.
  • Participate in weekly coordination meetings, progress reviews, and site walk‑throughs.
  • Testing & Commissioning Support
  • Observe and document mechanical system testing (hydrostatic, pressure, functional, and performance testing) and assist in commissioning activities as required.
  • Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) Compliance
  • Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to HSE requirements and report any unsafe conditions or incidents.
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Contribute to the development and refinement of inspection procedures, checklists, and best‑practice guidelines within the consultancy.

Required Qualifications & ExperienceRequirementDetailsAcademicB.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent accredited degree).Professional ExperienceMinimum 7 years of relevant experience in mechanical inspection/quality control on building projects.Consultancy BackgroundProven experience working within an engineering consultancy or design‑build environment.Technical Knowledge• In‑depth understanding of mechanical systems for buildings (HVAC, plumbing, fire‑protection, drainage).

  • Familiarity with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), International Building Codes, ASHRAE, NFPA, and relevant standards.Inspection SkillsAbility to read and interpret shop drawings, specifications, and BIM models; proficient in using inspection tools (laser levels, pressure gauges, thermometers, etc.).SoftwareCompetence with Microsoft Office, PDF markup tools, and preferably QA/QC software (e.g., Procore, Aconex, BIM 360).LanguagesFluency in English (written & spoken). Arabic is an advantage but not mandatory.Personal Attributes• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity and attention to detail.

  • Professional certifications such as PE (Professional Engineer), CQA/QC, or ASHRAE certifications.
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection tools (Navisworks, Revizto).
  • Prior exposure to large‑scale mixed‑use developments in Qatar or the GCC region.

Employment Terms

  • Contract Length: 12 months (contract may be extended based on project performance and business needs).
  • Working Hours: Standard Qatar working week (40‑45 h); occasional overtime may be required to meet project milestones.
  • Remuneration: Competitive salary package commensurate with experience, plus statutory benefits as per Qatari labor law.
  • Location: On‑site at the Duhail district, Doha – daily travel to multiple project sites may be required.
