Project Manager – Mechanical / Plumbing Design
Columbus, OH | MEP Consulting Engineering
I’m partnered with a well-established MEP consulting engineering firm in the Columbus area that is looking to add a Project Manager with a strong mechanical and/or plumbing design background.
This is not a construction PM role. The ideal fit is someone who has come up through mechanical or plumbing design within an engineering consulting environment and is ready to take ownership of projects, clients, schedules, and internal coordination while still staying close to the technical work.
The firm has a strong and growing project pipeline, with a recent increase in early-stage concept work. Once settled in, this person would have the opportunity to move into more of a concept management role, helping guide projects from the earliest planning stages and becoming a key technical/client-facing resource for the team.
What you’ll be doing:
• Manage MEP projects from kickoff through completion
• Lead coordination between mechanical, plumbing, and electrical design teams
• Serve as a main point of contact for clients, consultants, and project stakeholders
• Review drawings, schedules, budgets, and deliverables
• Stay involved in technical design decisions and project direction
• Support early concept design and planning efforts
• Keep projects moving through strong communication, organization, and follow-through
• Travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, and project coordination, averaging around 1 day per week
What they’re looking for:
• 5–10 years of experience in MEP consulting engineering
• Mechanical and/or plumbing design background
• Experience managing projects, coordinating teams, or leading project delivery
• Revit experience
• Strong communication skills with both clients and internal teams
• Someone who wants long-term growth into a larger project leadership / concept management role
Why it’s worth a conversation:
• 100% employee benefits coverage
• Strong backlog and steady project pipeline
• Opportunity to grow into a larger leadership role
• Hybrid flexibility
• Competitive compensation
• Chance to join a reputable local MEP firm where you can take real ownership, not just be another number
This is a strong fit for a mechanical or plumbing engineer who wants to stay technical, manage client relationships, and grow into a bigger leadership seat with a stable Columbus-area MEP firm.
