Mechnical project engineer

The Mechanical Project Engineer Specialist is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing mechanical engineering projects within the oil and gas sector according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources, coordinating efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants, and delivering projects according to plan. The engineer will also define project objectives, oversee quality control, and ensure technical compliance to all engineering standards and safety regulations.

Key Responsibilities:Project Planning and Execution

  • Lead mechanical engineering activities for oil and gas projects (e.g., pipeline systems, pressure vessels, rotating equipment, compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, etc.).
  • Develop project scopes, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including civil, electrical, instrumentation, and process engineers.
  • Prepare project schedules and track project milestones and deliverables.

Technical Oversight

  • Review and approve mechanical design documents, P&IDs, isometric drawings, and data sheets.
  • Ensure compliance with industry codes (API, ASME, ANSI, ASTM, ISO) and company standards.
  • Conduct stress analysis, material selection, and failure mode assessments.
  • Supervise installation, testing, and commissioning of mechanical systems.

Project Management

  • Manage project budgets, cost estimation, procurement of equipment, and contractor services.
  • Interface with procurement, QA/QC, HSE, and construction teams.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Support in the preparation of technical bid evaluations (TBEs) and vendor selection.

Communication & Reporting

  • Provide regular updates to stakeholders and management on project status, issues, and risks.
  • Prepare technical reports, progress reports, and change management documentation.
  • Liaise with clients, vendors, and regulatory authorities as needed.

Qualifications:Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum 7–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical project engineering within the oil and gas sector (upstream, midstream, or downstream).
  • PMP Certification is a plus.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems and rotating/static equipment.
  • Proficient in engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Caesar II, ANSYS, etc.).
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and project management tools (Primavera, MS Project).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: E£20,000.00 - E£30,000.00 per month
