Job Requirements
Under the direct supervision of the on-site physician, assists in the delivery of patient care and is responsible for assisting physicians, nurse practitioners, and team members with patient care, performing appropriate procedures, transporting patients, preparing rooms and equipment. Responsible for maintaining records, assisting with front-office activities when necessary and interacting in a professional, friendly manner with patients and family members, physicians, staff, and visitors.

Accurately gathers and documents history, chief complaint, records, and reports vital signs, height, weight, pain rating, fatigue rating, pulse oximetry, I&O, excellent hand hygiene, obtain lab specimens, complete allergy verification, and medication reconciliation. Promptly reports changes or abnormalities to Physician/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant and Charge Nurse. Demonstrates strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently.

Consistently demonstrates critical thinking skills necessary to perform and document specific patient tasks. Assists team members with the flow and coordination of the radiation clinics and procedure room. Follows established guidelines to obtain necessary testing based on chief complaint prior to the exam. Prepares and chaperones patient for examination by the health care provider.

Performs cleaning and disinfection of environment of care. Performs high-level disinfection of equipment and instruments by proper cleaning and care per OSHA guidelines and unit/hospital policy and procedure according to manufacture guidelines. Keeps exam rooms properly stocked with medical supplies, laboratory supplies, forms, and other materials as needed. Reports equipment and environmental repair needs to the appropriate department

Prepare room and assists physician with high dose radiation and laryngoscopy procedures including: vaginal cylinder, and tandem & ring. Clean brachytherapy suite after procedures and process (GYN/Scope) instruments according to hospital policy.

Manages phone calls, documents information from patients and relays information to physicians. Places return calls as directed by physicians. Schedules patients with additional providers and imaging as directed by physician. Performs rounding in department to communicate with patients as needed.

Maintains collaborative professional working relations with clinical and administrative team members necessary to develop and maintain successful cross continuum of care for this population group.

Assist in the coordination of inpatient transportation; Monitors ED alerts and notifies MD/NP and team of recently admitted patients.

Escorts patients to rooms, transports patients throughout KCC using stretcher or wheelchair. Assist fall risk patients and obtains oxygen as needed. Recognizes and responds appropriately to emergencies.

Performs other clinical functions as delegated and supervised by the Physician. Obtains prior authorizations for medications and imaging as needed.

Inserts and removes IV and Foley Catheters, completes pacemaker interrogations.

Assist with front office duties as needed, including but not limited to, filing, scheduling, answering phone calls, chart preparation, scanning, preparing patient education material.

Complies with established departmental policies for attendance, punctuality, procedures, and safety. Complies with organizational policies and procedures.

Participates in Performance Improvement/Culture of Excellence activities to improve service and interdepartmental communications. Contributes to clinic-based education and PI initiatives; assist in the development of action plans and supports implementation.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work Experience
- High School or GED required. Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant program and certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or other certifying bodies highly preferred. CPR required. Phlebotomy experience required.

One year experience in a medical office setting preferred. EMR experience preferred.
Benefits
One day/ week- part time(8am-4:30pm)
Pay Range: $19.50 - 27.31hr. (depends on years of experience)
