Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out processes efficiently.
- Collect patient histories, perform vital signs measurement, and document clinical information accurately within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
- Prepare patients for examinations by taking medical histories, explaining procedures, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Support clinical staff with procedures such as medication administration, X-ray preparation, or basic life support when necessary.
- Assist with intake procedures including insurance verification, ICD coding (International Classification of Diseases), and updating patient records with accurate demographic and medical data.
- Manage appointment scheduling, follow-up calls, and coordinate referrals to specialists or other healthcare facilities.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment while adhering to infection control protocols and hospital safety standards.
- Handle administrative duties such as answering phones, managing patient files, and supporting billing or documentation tasks related to inpatient or outpatient care.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a clinical setting such as dermatology, internal medicine, or hospital medicine; familiarity with hospital experience or Level I/II trauma centers is a plus.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, physiology, anatomy, ICD coding, and medication administration techniques.
- Hands-on experience with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and medical administrative support functions.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) required; additional certifications in emergency medicine or Geriatrics are advantageous.
- Ability to perform clinical tasks including vital signs collection, intake procedures, and assisting with X-ray or OR procedures if needed.
- Strong communication skills with a focus on patient service excellence; compassionate approach to diverse patient populations including inpatient units like PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit) or Geriatrics.
- Familiarity with outpatient clinics and experience working within hospital environments such as Level II trauma centers or emergency departments enhances your candidacy.
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical-surgical practices and the ability to adapt quickly in fast-paced settings like urgent care or Level I trauma centers.
