Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Assistant/Receptionist to join our healthcare team. This vital role combines clinical support with front-office and back office responsibilities to ensure seamless patient care and administrative operations. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and facilitate smooth check-in and check-out processes.
- Assist healthcare providers with clinical tasks such as taking vital signs, recording patient histories, and preparing and getting ready examination rooms.
- Manage electronic health record (EHR) systems accurately, including documentation of patient encounters, ICD coding, and updating medical records.
- Support patient intake procedures by collecting medical histories, medication lists, and current symptoms with professionalism and empathy.
- Prepare patients for procedures by explaining processes, assisting with basic life support if necessary, and ensuring comfort throughout their visit.
- Handle administrative duties including scheduling appointments, managing phone inquiries, and maintaining organized patient files.
- Assist with laboratory procedures such as specimen collection or X-ray preparation when applicable, especially in outpatient or hospital settings.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols related to medication administration, infection control, and hospital medicine standards.
Requirements
- Prior experience in office, or outpatient clinics is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, ICD coding, and basic pharmacology is essential for accurate documentation and patient care.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent is required; additional certifications related to emergency medicine or Level I/II trauma centers are a plus.
- Familiarity with EHR systems and medical administrative support functions such as appointment scheduling and billing processes.
- Experience working in hospital environments such as Level I Trauma Centers or Level II Trauma Centers enhances candidacy; PICU or OR experience is advantageous.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a focus on patient service excellence; ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations including geriatrics and inpatient settings.
