Join our new startup Rheumatology practice as a Medical Receptionist, where you will be the welcoming face and organizational hub of our medical practice. This vital role combines exceptional patient service with efficient administrative support, ensuring smooth clinic operations and a positive experience for every patient. Duties
- Greet patients warmly, verify their information, and assist with check-in and check-out processes using various Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems eClinicalWorks.
- Schedule appointments accurately utilizing medical scheduling software and coordinate follow-up visits to optimize clinic flow.
- Verify insurance coverage, perform insurance verification, and handle billing procedures including medical collection efforts and medical billing tasks.
- Manage multi-line phone systems with professional phone etiquette, answer inquiries promptly, and direct calls appropriately.
- Maintain meticulous medical records by filing documents, reviewing documentation for accuracy, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist with intake procedures, including collecting patient information and updating medical histories in electronic systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Support administrative tasks such as data entry, typing reports, managing office supplies, and supporting office management activities to ensure an organized clinic environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong familiarity in medical administrative support and front desk operations.
- Knowledge of EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or similar platforms; experience with dental terminology and dental office management is a plus.
- Proficiency in medical coding including CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9/10 (International Classification of Diseases), ICD coding, and familiarity with Medicare guidelines.
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel), typing skills (including 10-key typing), and experience with health information management software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA compliance standards to safeguard patient information; ability to review documentation for accuracy and completeness.
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette; bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail; previous clinic or hospital experience is preferred. Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
