Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Billing and Coding Specialist to join our orthopedic healthcare team on-site. This role is crucial in ensuring accurate billing and coding for medical services, which directly impacts the financial health of our organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology, coding systems, and billing procedures, along with experience in managing medical records efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Accurately code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 and CPT coding systems.
• Process medical billing and collections to ensure timely payment for services rendered.
• Maintain and manage electronic medical records (EMR) and electronic health records (EHR) systems.
• Review patient charts for completeness and accuracy before billing submission.
• Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any discrepancies in documentation or coding.
• Stay updated on changes in coding regulations and practices to ensure compliance.
• Assist in the resolution of billing inquiries from patients or insurance companies.
• Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Skills

• Proficient in DRG, CPT coding, ICD-10, and general ICD coding practices.
• Strong knowledge of medical billing processes and medical collection techniques.
• Experience working in an orthopedic office environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR systems for efficient record management.
• Comprehensive understanding of medical terminology relevant to coding and billing functions.
• Ability to accurately interpret medical records for effective coding practices.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.28 - $26.83 per hour
