Medical Front Desk Receptionist

Job Summary
Internal Medicine Associates is seeking a dedicated and professional Medical Front Desk Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for patients and visitors in a busy healthcare environment. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical administrative procedures. This role requires a proactive individual who can manage multiple responsibilities efficiently while providing outstanding patient service and maintaining confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. The Medical Front Desk Receptionist will be instrumental in ensuring smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and effective communication between patients and healthcare providers.

Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, ensuring a positive first impression while managing check-in and check-out procedures efficiently.
  • Verify patient insurance coverage, perform insurance eligibility checks, and facilitate insurance verification processes using eClinicalWorks.
  • Schedule appointments accurately utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems and coordinate with clinical staff to optimize daily clinic flow.
  • Manage incoming calls through multi-line phone systems, demonstrating professional phone etiquette and providing clear information to callers.
  • Maintain organized medical records by filing documents, updating patient information, and reviewing documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Assist with billing processes including medical collection procedures, coding (CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and medical billing tasks to ensure timely payments.
  • Support administrative functions such as data entry, appointment reminders, intake forms, and documentation review while adhering to HIPAA privacy standards.
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to facilitate care plans and ensure seamless communication between patients and healthcare providers.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment with strong clerical and administrative skills.
  • Familiarity with eClinicalWorks is highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT coding, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), and insurance verification processes.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced clinic environment.
  • Exceptional customer service skills combined with professional phone etiquette and clear communication abilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations while managing sensitive patient information.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
