Duties

  • Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures.
  • Schedule appointments efficiently using electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance authorization and verification processes.
  • Manage multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
  • Maintain accurate medical records by filing documents, updating patient information, and reviewing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist with medical billing and collections, including processing payments and following up on outstanding balances.
  • Support clinical staff with administrative tasks such as preparing care plans, reviewing documentation, and managing medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a medical office or healthcare setting, preferably in clinics or dental offices with medical terminology familiarity.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR system terminology is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards.
  • Familiarity with CPT coding, ICD-9/10 coding systems for medical billing and documentation review.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
  • Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to serve diverse patient populations effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills combined with clerical experience such as filing, data entry, and office management.
  • Ability to handle high-volume phone calls while maintaining professionalism and courtesy in all interactions.
  • Knowledge of insurance verification processes for Medicare or other insurance providers is advantageous.
