MEDICAL OFFICER (ICU)

RMO in ICU – Roles & Responsibilities

  • Patient Care & Monitoring
  • Monitor vitals and assess patient condition.
  • Respond to changes in clinical status.
  • Ensure timely intervention for critically ill patients.
  • Emergency & Critical Care Management
  • Handle cardiac arrests and perform CPR.
  • Assist in intubation, ventilator management, and advanced life support.
  • Manage shock, sepsis, and other emergencies.
  • Medication & Treatment Administration
  • Prescribe and administer IV fluids, antibiotics, and emergency drugs.
  • Titrate inotropic support under guidance.
  • Ensure safe drug administration and dosage adjustments.
  • Procedures & Clinical Support
  • Assist in central line insertion, arterial line placement, and catheterization.
  • Perform ABG analysis and ECG interpretation.
  • Support blood transfusions and dialysis procedures when needed.
  • Coordination with ICU Team
  • Work closely with intensivists, consultants, and nursing staff.
  • Ensure smooth transition of care during shift changes.
  • Discuss cases with multidisciplinary teams for best patient outcomes.
  • Family & Patient Communication
  • Update patient families on condition and treatment plans.
  • Provide emotional support and address concerns.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in communication.
  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Maintain detailed case records and daily progress notes.
  • Ensure accurate documentation of procedures and medications.
  • Adhere to hospital protocols, ICU guidelines, and medico-legal policies.
  • Infection Control & Safety
  • Follow strict hygiene and sterilization protocols.
  • Ensure proper use of PPE and waste disposal.
  • Prevent hospital-acquired infections through best practices.
  • Training & Continuous Learning
  • Attend CMEs, case discussions, and ICU rounds.
  • Stay updated with critical care guidelines and protocols.
  • Mentor junior doctors and medical interns when required.

Qualifications:

  • MBBS/ BAMS preferred.
  • Training in BLS/ACLS (mandatory).
  • Working knowledge of NABH accreditation processes and hospital quality indicators is desirable.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹30,000.00 - ₹60,000.00 per month
