Medical Purchasing Specialist

Job Summary:

Responsible for planning and executing medical product procurement operations (such as medical devices, consumables, sterile products, and specialized equipment) to ensure availability according to the highest quality standards and regulatory compliance, while achieving optimal cost and mitigating risks associated with the medical supply chain.

Primary Responsibilities:

1. Medical Procurement Management:

- Plan and execute purchase orders for medical products based on the needs of medical departments (operations, emergency, laboratories, etc.).

- Monitor expiration dates and storage conditions for medical products (such as temperature, humidity) to ensure compliance with health requirements.

- Coordinate the receipt and initial inspection of medical products with the health assurance team and warehouses.

2. Supplier Management and Regulatory Compliance:

- Evaluate and certify new suppliers of medical products according to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards (such as SFDA, FDA, CE).

- Ensure product validity certificates are in place (such as storage certificates, certificates of origin, and regulatory body registrations).

- Manage relationships with suppliers and periodically review their performance in terms of quality, delivery, and emergency response.

3. Analysis and Planning:

- Analyze consumption data for medical products and forecast demand to avoid stockouts or overstocking.

- Prepare periodic reports on procurement costs, savings achieved, and supplier performance indicators.

- Study alternatives for high-cost or limited-availability medical products without compromising quality.

4. Quality and Risk Management:

- Coordinate with the quality control team to inspect samples of incoming medical products.

- Monitor product recalls and take immediate action to replace or return them.

- Develop contingency plans to secure alternatives for critical products in the event of a shortage.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

- Educational Qualification: Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Sciences, or Supply Chain Management (with experience in the medical field).

- Experience: 3+ years in medical product procurement (devices, supplies, or medical equipment).

- Technical Knowledge:

- In-depth knowledge of local and international health regulations (e.g., SFDA, ISO 13485, GDPR).

- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office packages.

- Understanding the technical characteristics of medical products (e.g., classification, use, storage conditions).

Interpersonal Skills:

- Extreme accuracy in handling data and regulatory requirements.

- Ability to negotiate and manage crises under pressure.

- Analytical and strategic planning skills.

Working Conditions:

- Adherence to relevant occupational health and safety protocols.

Note: This position requires a deep understanding of the regulatory and medical environment, as any error could directly impact patient health or the facility's reputation.
