Responsibilities:
- Answer multi-line phone and direct caller to the appropriate party or handle the caller’s needs.
- Take detailed messages for doctors and staff
- Patient registration via electronic health record. This includes verifying benefits, obtaining referrals, authorizations and posting payments.
- Schedule patient appointments via EHR.
- Greet patients upon arrival, arrive patient and obtain insurance and necessary documentation.
- Process payments from patients.
- Appointment reminder phone calls.
- Provide patients with support and guidance as needed.
- Maintain business inventory.
- Maintain confidentiality of all doctor, staff and patient information.
Responsibilities
- Answer and manage a multi-line phone system, directing callers appropriately and handling needs with professionalism and care
- Register patients and verify insurance benefits, obtain referrals and authorizations, and post payments via electronic health record (EHR)
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments and conduct appointment reminder calls
- Greet patients upon arrival, check in and obtain necessary documentation and insurance information
- Process patient payments accurately
- Take detailed messages for providers and staff
- Maintain confidentiality of all patient, provider, and practice information in accordance with HIPAA
- Support patients and families with guidance and a positive experience at every interaction
- Maintain business inventory and contribute to a clean, organized front desk environment
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of Medical Receptionist experience in a healthcare setting — required
- High school diploma or equivalent — required
- Meticulous attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Professional phone etiquette and strong verbal and written communication skills
- Working knowledge of medical terminology; familiarity with HIPAA regulations, ICD and CPT coding a plus
- Experience with Office Practicum EHR preferred
- Strong team player who is also self-motivated and dependable
- Demonstrated commitment to attendance and reliability
- Must consent to background check and drug screening
- Spanish language proficiency preferred
