The Medication Support Officer will be specifically responsible for assisting and supporting Medication & Compliance.
· Preparing electronic Medication Administration Record sheets (e-MARs) for each service user in conjunction with the GP and pharmacist advise to ensure that the information is accurate and updated, as necessary.
· Updating and maintaining medication errors record.
· Updating medication support plans on Care for IT (CFIT).
· Updating drug allergies record.
· Adding medication on electronic medication management system.
· Creating and reviewing PRN protocols.
· Monitoring (in conjunction with Field Liaison Supervisors) the MARs process and generating reports.
· Delivering MARs requests to GP surgeries and following up on responses.
· Monitoring administration of records on CareForIT – online tracking.
· Dealing with medication enquiries.
· Working with the administration team to action items and monitor information electronically.
· Alerting management of potential high risk of medication administration such as controlled drugs and medication administration through PEG and RIG feed.
· Ensuring that care workers administer controlled drugs and crushed tablets in accordance with company policy and procedure.
· Ensuring that care workers leave correct medication doses out for service users in accordance to their support plan.
· Ensuring that care workers place medication in food (covert administration) where required, in accordance to the company policy and procedure and written consent from a medical professional.
· Ensuring that care workers administer medication as per company’s policy.
· Ensuring that care workers correctly lock away medication and that authorisations are in place.
· Undertaking additional responsibilities that is suitable to their job roles and in accordance to their induction and specialist trainings.
