Medieval Bar Keeper

Cup of Swords Tavern is seeking an experienced and personable Bartender to join our team. We are a medieval and renaissance-themed establishment focused on providing excellent service in a lively, immersive environment.

This position requires strong bartending skills, the ability to work efficiently under pressure, and a willingness to participate in the themed atmosphere by wearing period-appropriate attire and engaging courteously with guests.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and serve a wide range of beverages, including beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic drinks.
• Provide friendly, attentive, and efficient service to all guests.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including glassware, supplies, and equipment.
• Handle cash and card transactions accurately.
• Restock bar inventory and ensure product rotation.
• Adhere to all alcohol service laws, health, and safety standards.
• Contribute to a welcoming, themed atmosphere consistent with the tavern’s medieval/renaissance concept.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 1 year of bartending or barback experience (themed or hospitality setting preferred).
• Knowledge of drink preparation, mixology, and responsible alcohol service.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask and work efficiently during busy shifts.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and special events.
• Current Washington State Class 12 Mixology Permit (MAST Certification)

Additional Requirements:

• Costumes are mandatory. Staff are required to wear medieval or renaissance-style attire while on duty.
• Costumes are not provided by the establishment. Employees must supply their own attire that aligns with the tavern’s theme (guidelines provided upon hiring).
• Must be comfortable maintaining a friendly, guest-oriented demeanor within the themed environment.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (kegs, crates, etc.).
• Comfortable working in a busy, lively setting.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 32 per week
