Plumbing, Drainage & Water Supply MEP Engineer (Contracting)

Job Summary

The Plumbing, Drainage & Water Supply MEP Engineer is responsible for the planning, coordination, execution, and supervision of plumbing and drainage systems in construction projects. The role focuses on site execution, compliance with design drawings, quality standards, project timelines, and coordination with other disciplines under a contracting environment.

Key Responsibilities1. Project Execution & Site Management

  • Supervise installation of plumbing, drainage, and water supply systems as per approved drawings and specifications.
  • Review IFC drawings, shop drawings, and method statements prior to execution.
  • Ensure works are executed according to project schedule and quality standards.
  • Coordinate daily site activities with foremen, subcontractors, and other MEP trades.

2. Technical & Engineering Duties

  • Prepare and review shop drawings, as-built drawings, and material submittals.
  • Conduct hydraulic calculations for water supply, drainage, and stormwater systems.
  • Ensure compliance with local authority regulations and international codes (e.g., IPC, UPC, BS standards).
  • Review BOQs and assist in material take-offs and procurement planning.

3. Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with civil, architectural, electrical, HVAC, and fire protection teams to avoid clashes.
  • Attend technical and progress meetings with consultants and clients.
  • Resolve technical site issues and provide practical solutions.

4. Testing & Commissioning

  • Supervise pressure testing, chlorination, flushing, and drainage testing.
  • Prepare inspection requests (IRs) and ensure consultant approvals.
  • Support commissioning and handover documentation.

5. Quality & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with project QA/QC procedures.
  • Implement safety standards and toolbox talks in coordination with HSE team.
  • Maintain proper documentation of inspections and approvals.

6. Contract & Commercial Awareness

  • Assist in variation claims and cost estimation related to plumbing works.
  • Monitor material usage and minimize wastage.
  • Support quantity surveying team in progress measurement and billing.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field.
  • 8+ years of experience in MEP contracting (plumbing & drainage works).
  • Strong knowledge of water supply systems, drainage systems, stormwater, sewage lifting stations, and water heaters.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD; knowledge of Revit/BIM is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with local authority regulations and approval processes.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to AED15,000.00 per month
