Job Title: MEP Estimation Engineer

Key Responsibilities:
- Review MEP tender drawings, specifications, and BOQs to verify scope completeness, identify discrepancies, and prepare detailed quantity take-offs for mechanical (HVAC, plumbing, fire fighting) and electrical systems (power, lighting, ELV, etc.).
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for in-house execution and subcontracted works, including material, labor, equipment, and overhead components.
- Analyze design drawings and value engineer alternative materials or systems for cost efficiency without compromising performance or compliance.
- Prepare tender packages, issue inquiries to subcontractors and suppliers, and conduct technical and commercial evaluations of received quotations.
- Negotiate prices and terms with MEP subcontractors and suppliers to ensure the best technical and commercial outcomes.
- Prepare and review comparison sheets, cost summaries, and technical compliance statements for management approval.
- Assist in the preparation of budgets and cost plans during project mobilization and monitor cost performance throughout project execution.
- Work closely with the project team to assess and certify subcontractor progress claims, variations, and change orders.
- Prepare and maintain detailed records of measurements, re-measurements, and cost variations in coordination with the project site team.
- Evaluate and prepare variations, claims, and extensions of time related to MEP scope, ensuring proper substantiation with documentation and drawings.
- Monitor procurement schedules, material submittals, and approvals to ensure cost implications are properly captured.
- Conduct cost impact analysis of design changes, material substitutions, and scope adjustments.
- Prepare interim payment applications and final account settlements for MEP works.
- Liaise with consultants, clients, and internal departments to resolve commercial and contractual issues.
- Support the MEP Manager and Commercial Manager with reports on cost status, forecast, and profitability.
- Maintain a strong database of MEP material rates, labor productivity norms, and subcontractor performance for future pricing reference.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual terms, and company procedures in all cost and estimation activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- 5 or more years of experience in MEP quantity surveying and estimation within building contracting companies particularly with the well known main contractors in UAE.
- Proven experience in both pre-contract (estimation, tendering) and post-contract (cost control, variations, final accounts) stages.
