Job Title

Position Title: MEP Project/Site Engineer

Location: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia


Role Overview

The MEP Project/Site Engineer is responsible for the on-site management, coordination, and delivery of all Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) installation works in Riyadh-based projects. The role ensures that MEP systems are executed in compliance with Saudi Building Code (SBC), Civil Defense requirements, approved designs, safety standards, and project schedules, while maintaining high quality and cost control.


Key Responsibilities

1. MEP Site Management & Coordination

  • Lead and manage all on-site MEP installation activities, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and ELV systems.
  • Coordinate MEP works with civil, structural, and architectural teams to ensure smooth interfaces and sequencing.
  • Ensure site activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, method statements, and project programs.
  • Ensure effective coordination of MEP, civil, architectural, and structural works to avoid interface conflicts and construction delays.


2. Design & Technical Coordination

  • Review and coordinate MEP shop drawings, material submittals, and technical clarifications with consultants and subcontractors.
  • Ensure all MEP installations comply with Saudi Building Code (SBC), Saudi Civil Defense, SEC, NWC, and other relevant authority (e.g., MODON) requirements.
  • Support resolution of design conflicts and site technical issues.


3. Subcontractor & Workforce Management

  • Manage and supervise MEP subcontractors and site labor to ensure productivity, quality, and safety compliance.
  • Monitor workmanship and enforce quality standards through inspections and site checks.
  • Ensure subcontractors follow approved safety plans and site HSE procedures.


4. Authority Approvals & Compliance

  • Coordinate inspections and approvals with Saudi Civil Defense and other local authorities related to MEP systems.
  • Ensure all installations meet statutory requirements and are ready for authority testing and certification.


5. Procurement & Material Control

  • Support procurement activities by reviewing technical specifications and assisting in supplier and material evaluations.
  • Monitor delivery, storage, and installation of MEP materials and equipment to avoid delays and quality issues.
  • Ensure materials and equipment meet approved submittals and project specifications.


6. Installation Progress, Testing & Commissioning

  • Monitor and report MEP installation progress against the project schedule.
  • Coordinate testing, commissioning, and pre-commissioning activities for all MEP systems.
  • Ensure proper documentation, as-built drawings, and O&M manuals are prepared for handover.


7. Issue Resolution & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and resolve technical, quality, safety, and progress-related issues on site.
  • Proactively propose constructability improvements and value engineering solutions while maintaining compliance and performance.
  • Capture lessons learned to improve installation efficiency and site coordination.


8. Package Interface & Risk Management

  • Identify, manage, and mitigate interface risks arising from split contracts and multiple subcontractors.
  • Develop and maintain package interface matrices, responsibility demarcation documents, and sequencing plans to mitigate scope gaps and interface risks.
  • Maintain a live interface risk register and ensure responsibilities are clearly assigned and communicated.
  • Manage cross-trade coordination meetings and resolve interface-related conflicts between subcontractors to avoid delays and claims.
  • Lead coordination workshops with consultants, subcontractors, and internal teams to resolve interface and sequencing challenges.


Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5–7 years of MEP installation experience, with at least 3–5 years in Saudi Arabia.
  • Saudi Council of Engineers (SCE) Professional Accreditation is required.
  • Proven experience managing MEP works on industrial facilities, logistics warehouses, large commercial, or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Saudi Building Code (SBC), Saudi Civil Defense requirements, and local authority approval processes.
  • Hands-on experience with split-package or multiple subcontractor MEP management.
  • Strong site coordination, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Hands-on experience in Project management systems for project tracking, submittals, and site reporting (such as Aconex, Procore, BIM, Primavera, etc.)


Skills & Competencies

  • Strong leadership and on-site management capabilities.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of cost awareness and commercial acumen.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural and fast-paced environment.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is essential; Chinese is advantage.
