Job Summary:

Fire & Safety Engineers analyse risks, design and implement fire protection systems, develop emergency plans, ensure compliance with fire codes and regulations, and conduct fire safety training to protect life, property, and the environment from fire hazards. They work collaboratively with architects, engineers, and local authorities throughout the design, construction, and operational phases of projects to integrate fire-safe practices and systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Risk Assessment and Hazard Analysis:Identify potential fire hazards and assess their risks and potential effects on people and property.
• System Design:Design and develop fire detection, fire suppression (like sprinklers), and fire control systems for buildings and facilities.
• Compliance and Regulation:Ensure that designs and practices comply with local, state, and national fire safety codes and regulations.
• Collaboration:Work closely with architects, civil engineers, and other professionals to integrate fire safety measures into the overall design and construction of projects.
• Emergency Planning:Develop and review emergency evacuation plans, including strategies for managing fire and rescue operations.
• Material Selection:Advise on the selection of construction materials that have fire-resistant properties.
• Training and Education: Provide fire safety training to staff, stakeholders, and other team members to promote a culture of safety.
• Site Inspections and Audits: Conduct site assessments and perform inspections and testing of fire protection systems.
• Incident Investigation: Investigate fire incidents to understand their causes and recommend improvements to prevent future occurrences.
• Technology and Standards: Stay up-to-date with the latest fire safety technologies, products, regulations, and fire dynamics research.
• Documentation and Reporting: Manage project documentation and provide progress reports to stakeholders Familiarity with Fire codes and safety standards as per NBC Norms in MSB. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, communication, and teamwork skills.

Desired Candidate Profile

• Diploma / Advanced Diploma in Fire & Industrial Safety.
• 5–10 years of experience in fire & safety supervision.
• Strong knowledge of fire systems, NBC norms, and audits.
• Experience in inspections and statutory coordination.
• Good reporting, leadership, and safety awareness skills.
