General Summary:
Merchandising Assistants provide diversified support for buyers in a dynamic and fast paced work environment. Merchandise Assistants possess strong communication skills and act as a liaison between Buyers, internal business partners and our external supplier community. The ideal Merchandising Assistant is resourceful, confident in problem solving, well organized and a team player. Merchandising Assistant provide support relating to the efficient and profitable operation of their assigned departments and categories. The Merchandising Assistant will be ensuring and being responsible for key steps in our end-to-end business processes of Supplier Set Up, SKU Creation, PO Creation, Advertising, Billing and Customer Support. The Merchandising Assistant role is a steppingstone to careers at Family Dollar and the experience gained allows team members to transition into exempt roles with progressive responsibilities.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Cultivate and collaboratively work to maintain relationships with Buyers, MA team and cross functional business partners. Become a go to resource and expert in your category and responsibilities
a. Attend team and cross functional meetings, preparing any needed documentation and reports to support the agenda
b. Actively contribute – sharing insights, providing updates, capturing notes, actions and manage next steps
2. Accountable for key responsibilities in the Supplier, SKU & PO creation and maintenance processes
a. Act a project manager to ensure all tasks and deadlines are achieved. Kicking off the process with workflow submissions and performing any needed follow up as request work through each process.

3. Responsible for sample and ticket processes
4. Manage the marketing projection tool - DemandTec
a. Partner with Buyers and Suppliers to ensure accurate documentation
b. Enter pricing, deals, projections, scan allowances and co-op
c. Responsible to maintain key tracking documents utilized in monthly financial roll ups
5. Responsible for resolving customer complaints, issues and special requests
6. Self directs personal and professional development to successfully transition into exempt roles with progressive responsibilities
7. Other job-related duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Minimum Requirements:
Education: High school or GED required, College Degree preferred
Experience: Retail experience is preferred
Job Related Skills: Proven track record in priority setting and managing multiple tasks and strong written and communication skills with excellent organizational skills. Applicant must have high attention to detail, strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite tools – Excel, Word, etc. is required
