Montessori Preschool Teacher

Job Overview:
Happy Day Montessori School in Albany is looking for a loving, caring, and fun Montessori Preschool Teacher to join our wonderful team.

A Montessori Preschool Teacher must:
 Have a Bachelor's or Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education and Montessori Certification, Basic Units and Training
 Have at least 2 years of experience working with young children (2-5 years)
 CPR and First Aid certification ( be able to attend the training), live scan clearance, and background check
 Complete a Tuberculosis test and provide a physician’s documentation of both and provide an immunization record, including the COVID-19 vaccine
 Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a group of children aged 2-5 years old
 Have a love for children and enjoy working with children
 Be able to kneel, bend, squat, and lift

REQUIRED EXPECTATIONS:

- Provide supervision, care, and diaper changing

- Follow the Montessori philosophy to create an atmosphere that encourages appropriate social- emotional development .

- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs
- Utilize developmentally appropriate practice and best practice methods at all times
-Be dependable, warm, and nurturing with children
- Be a positive role model for all care giving staff and children
- Be punctual and a good team player

Duties

  • Develop and implement engaging Montessori curriculum that promotes literacy education, math skills, physical education, and overall childhood development.
  • Create a warm, organized classroom environment that encourages exploration, independence, and respect for each child's unique learning pace.
  • Plan and execute lesson plans aligned with Montessori principles, including activities for toddlers and preschool-aged children.
  • Manage classroom behavior using positive behavior management techniques to foster a safe and respectful learning atmosphere.
  • Support children with special education needs or those requiring early intervention by adapting activities to meet diverse learning requirements.
  • Conduct assessments of student progress through observations and standardized testing methods; document developmental milestones regularly.
  • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to discuss progress, address concerns, and provide guidance on child welfare and development at home.

Skills

  • Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles, including Montessori methodology and childhood development stages.
  • Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or private school settings; familiarity with classroom management strategies.
  • Proficiency in curriculum development, lesson planning, and implementing literacy education alongside math and physical education activities.
  • Ability to work effectively with students who have special needs or require early intervention support.
  • Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
  • Knowledge of standardized testing procedures relevant to early childhood assessment tools.

Pay: $25.33 - $30.50 per hour
