A warm and fast-paced family in Allandale is seeking a dependable and engaging Weekend Nanny to support their three children, with primary care focused on their 6-year-old boy who has global developmental delays. The 6-year-old is joyful, playful, and loves music and games of chase. He is non-verbal but communicates effectively through signs, gestures, sounds, and a communication device. He thrives with structure and consistency, and the family is eager to provide training and support to ensure the nanny feels confident and prepared in their role.

About the Role:

* Primary responsibility: Care for the 6-year-old, including solo playtime, structured activities, and family outings. Siblings may be present but typically have independent activities or parental support.

* Secondary responsibility: Household support including dishes, preparing simple meals for the children (pancakes, sandwiches, quesadillas, etc), laundry. Occasional support for siblings (ages 8 and 10).

*Environment: Collaborative, “team” approach alongside a weekday nanny/house manager, therapists, and the parents.

* Weekend rhythm: The family is very fast paced, you will need to be able to prioritize tasks quickly and be confident taking moments to get things done when there is down time. While outings and activities may vary, the youngest does best when there is consistent structure to the day. The nanny should feel comfortable pivoting while maintaining structure for the child. The nanny will plan engaging post-nap activities—games, experiments, or family-friendly projects.

* Light household tasks: During the child’s nap (~2 hours) or times when child is under parents direct supervision, assist with dishwasher loading/unloading, laundry, and light kitchen tidying.

Requirements:

* Experience with children (special needs/behavioral therapy experience a plus, but not required).

* Passion for working with kids and a willingness to learn.

* Comfortable cooking and creating simple balanced meals for child. Example: pancakes, eggs, quesadillas, sandwiches, etc

* Clean driving record and comfort driving children to activities.

* Physically able to go up and down stairs, sit on the floor, and supervise in and around water (home has a pool).

* Comfort working collaboratively in a family-focused environment. The parents will be present for the majority of the time, but the children are used to this environment.

* Availability to travel occasionally with advance notice.

The Ideal Candidate:

* Patient, creative, and proactive in planning activities.

* Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

* Able to think on your feet and prioritize tasks.

* Excited to be part of a long-term, supportive role.

* Flexible, reliable, and a true team player.
