Network Security Engineer

The Network Security Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, and 24/7 monitoring of the organization’s security infrastructure. In Doha, this involves maintaining high-availability networks that comply with the Qatar National Cyber Security Strategy. You will be tasked with protecting the perimeter, securing internal data flows, and ensuring that all network traffic—from cloud-based apps to on-premise servers—is encrypted, authenticated, and audited.

Key Responsibilities

  • Security Architecture: Design and deploy robust security solutions, including Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW), VPNs, and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS).
  • Zero Trust Implementation: Shift network architecture toward a Zero Trust model, ensuring that "never trust, always verify" is applied to every user and device in the Doha office and remote locations.
  • Vulnerability Management: Conduct regular network scans and coordinate with the SOC (Security Operations Center) to patch vulnerabilities and mitigate risks.
  • Incident Response: Act as a technical lead during network security breaches, performing root cause analysis and implementing immediate containment strategies.
  • Compliance & Audit: Ensure the network meets Qatar's National Information Assurance (NIA) standards and international benchmarks like ISO 27001.
  • Cloud Security: Secure hybrid-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud), focusing on Virtual Private Clouds (VPC), Security Groups, and WAFs.
  • Identity & Access Management (IAM): Manage Network Access Control (NAC) systems to ensure only authorized devices can connect to the corporate fabric.

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Experience: 5–8 years in network security. Previous experience in the Middle East or within critical infrastructure (Finance, Energy, or Government) is highly valued.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or Network Engineering.
  • Technical Certifications:
  • CCNP Security (Cisco Certified Network Professional).
  • PCNSE (Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer).
  • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional).
  • Fortinet NSE 4–7.
  • Hard Skills:
  • Expertise in Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco Firepower firewalls.
  • Deep understanding of TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, and MPLS.
  • Proficiency in Packet Analysis (Wireshark) and Log Management (Splunk/ELK).
  • Language: Professional English fluency is mandatory. Arabic is a distinct advantage for communicating with government regulatory bodies in Qatar.
