Position Overview: Third Plateau, an established, growing, and well-respected social impact consulting firm is seeking an experienced, self-directed accounting professional to serve as a Full-time Not-for-Profit Senior Accountant within our Finance & Accounting Division, formerly Creating Answers (www.creatinganswers.com). Under the supervision of the Lead CFO, you will support our nonprofit clients. Start Date: ASAP

Location: 100% Remote Position

Annual Salary: $82,500 - $95,000

The Finance & Accounting Division of Third Plateau offers an outside-the-box multi-layered support model of external Chief Financial Officer services and all supporting functions in a fully virtual environment. We believe in teaching and listening to our clients rather than talking at them. In conjunction with this we offer bookkeeping, financial analytics, cash flow projections, budget composition, board presentations, and much more.

What You’ll Do

As a Not-for-Profit Senior Accountant, you will serve as an integral part of the team. You will support our not-for-profit clients. Duties include but are not limited to:

· Data entry, journal entries, and bank reconciliations completed with accuracy for multiple clients. Monthly/Quarterly/Annual close procedures.

· Creation of financial statements for clients

· Year-end adjustments and maintenance of balance sheet accounts

· Complete annual audit schedules and preparations

· Communicate with clients both verbally and via email in a friendly and professional manner

· Review work after completing a project

· Identify systematic weaknesses, suggest alternate systems to clients, and implement them strategically

· Keep detailed notes and organized electronic files

· Create and maintain written accounting procedures

· Work with management and staff to improve processes and procedures

· Communicate with Auditors and Tax Accountants

· Work in tandem as a team to support clients according to annual contract obligations

· Manage weekly/monthly calendar to meet deadlines

Additional Position Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years of hands-on, paid full charge experience with nonprofit specialization
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or equivalent in paid experience)
  • CPA not required, but some audit experience and/or previous experience supporting an employer’s audit is required
  • Knowledge of grants and grant accounting
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP as applied to nonprofit accounting
  • Strong proficiency in QuickBooks and Excel; knowledge of and comfort working with Microsoft Office; tech savvy
  • Strong project and time management skills, and demonstrated ability to work with multiple deadlines and multiple clients
  • A strong desire to serve and support small not-for-profit organizations
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
  • Collaborative and consultative work style
  • Self-discipline and accountability to work successfully in a remote environment
