Position Title: Consultant – Obstetrics & Gynecology

Position Summary
The Obstetrician & Gynecologist will be responsible for providing comprehensive medical and surgical care to women, focusing on pregnancy, childbirth, reproductive health, and gynecological disorders. The role involves both outpatient and inpatient care, including preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic services, with a strong emphasis on patient safety, clinical excellence, and evidence-based practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Clinical Care
- Provide consultation, diagnosis, and treatment for women’s health issues including infertility, menstrual disorders, menopause, and gynecological cancers.
- Manage antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care for pregnant women.
- Perform normal deliveries, assisted deliveries, and cesarean sections.
- Handle gynecological surgeries including hysterectomy, laparoscopic surgeries, and other minimally invasive procedures.
- Manage high-risk pregnancies, obstetric emergencies, and complications.
2. Patient Safety & Quality Care
- Ensure adherence to clinical protocols, NABH/JCI accreditation standards, and hospital policies.
- Monitor maternal and fetal well-being throughout pregnancy and delivery.
- Provide counseling on family planning, contraception, and reproductive health.
- Maintain accurate medical records and ensure confidentiality.
3. Multidisciplinary Collaboration
- Work in coordination with neonatologists, anesthetists, radiologists, and other specialists for comprehensive patient care.
- Provide clinical guidance to residents, nursing staff, and paramedical team members.
- Actively participate in patient case discussions, morbidity/mortality meetings, and quality audits.
4. Communication & Counseling
- Communicate with patients and families with empathy, providing clear updates regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and prognosis.
- Educate women on preventive health measures, lifestyle modifications, and maternal wellness.
5. Training, Research & Development
- Mentor and train junior doctors, residents, and nursing staff.
- Stay updated with the latest developments in obstetrics and gynecology through CME, workshops, and research activities.
- Participate in academic sessions, conferences, and contribute to publications when required.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: MBBS with MD/MS/DNB in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
- Fellowship/Additional Training: Fellowship in High-Risk Pregnancy, Infertility, or Minimal Access Surgery preferred.
- Certification: BLS and ACLS mandatory.
- Experience: Minimum 1–2 years post-qualification experience in a reputed multispeciality hospital.
