Job Summary
The Customs Clearance Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating all customs-related activities to ensure timely, compliant, and cost-effective clearance of import and export shipments. The role requires strong knowledge of customs laws, documentation, and coordination with customs authorities and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and submit import/export documentation in compliance with customs regulations.
- Coordinate with customs authorities, port officials, and inspection agencies for smooth clearance of shipments.
- Ensure accurate HS code classification, duty calculation, and tax assessment.
- Monitor and track shipment clearance status and resolve delays or discrepancies.
- Maintain updated knowledge of customs laws, tariffs, and trade regulations.
- Liaise with freight forwarders, transporters, and internal teams to ensure on-time delivery.
- Handle customs audits, inspections, and queries professionally.
- Maintain proper records of customs documents and clearance reports.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and local regulatory requirements.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 2–5 years of experience in customs clearance or freight forwarding.
- Strong knowledge of local and international customs regulations and procedures.
- Experience with customs systems (e.g., Bayan, FASAH, ASYCUDA, or similar – as applicable).
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficiency in MS Office; ERP or logistics systems experience is an advantage.
