Job Summary

RJ Powersports is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Accountant to oversee financial operations for our Ottumwa dealership. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, producing dealership financial reports, and ensuring accounting accuracy using Lightspeed DMS and accounting tools. The ideal candidate is analytical, organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail dealership environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate financial records using Lightspeed DMS and dealership accounting systems
• Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations
• Prepare monthly financial statements, including income statements and cash flow reports
• Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoice processing and payment scheduling
• Reconcile floorplan statements, OEM receivables, and parts/service/sales transactions
• Assist ownership with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Monitor dealership expenses and identify cost-saving opportunities
• Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial controls
• Support year-end closing and external CPA coordination
• Recommend improvements to accounting processes and workflow efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (preferred)
• Experience in accounting or bookkeeping; dealership or retail experience a plus
• Proficiency with Lightspeed DMS or similar dealership systems (training available if needed)
• Strong understanding of general ledger and reconciliations
• High attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to communicate clearly with management and department leaders

Relocation Requirement

• Must relocate to Ottumwa, IA 52501 before starting (if not already local)

Pay: $44,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
