Job Purpose
The Head of Operations is responsible for leading and optimizing end-to-end manufacturing operations for power and distribution transformers, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, cost efficiency, delivery performance, and regulatory compliance. The role drives operational excellence, capacity utilization, and continuous improvement aligned with business growth objectives.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manufacturing & Production Management
Oversee complete transformer manufacturing operations including:
Core cutting & stacking
Winding (HV/LV)
Insulation & assembly
Tank fabrication
Drying, oil filling & impregnation
Testing & quality assurance
Ensure production plans meet customer delivery schedules and capacity targets.
Improve plant productivity, OEE, and throughput.
2. Quality, Testing & Compliance
Ensure compliance with relevant standards such as:
IS, IEC, IEEE, ANSI (as applicable)
Oversee routine, type, and special tests (impulse, temperature rise, short-circuit coordination).
Drive zero-defect culture and reduce rework, rejection, and warranty claims.
Lead audits (customer, third-party, statutory).
3. Supply Chain & Inventory Control
Coordinate with procurement for critical raw materials:
CRGO / amorphous core
Copper / aluminum conductors
Insulation materials
Transformer oil
Optimize inventory levels and working capital.
Strengthen vendor development and quality control.
4. Cost Control & Budgeting
Own operational budgets and manufacturing cost reduction initiatives.
Improve yield, reduce scrap, and optimize material consumption.
Drive value engineering and process optimization.
5. Safety, EHS & Statutory Compliance
Ensure adherence to EHS standards and statutory regulations.
Implement best practices for electrical, fire, and shop-floor safety.
Drive safety audits, training, and incident-free operations.
6. People & Leadership
Lead and mentor production, quality, maintenance, and planning teams.
Develop skills and succession plans for key technical roles.
Foster a culture of accountability, discipline, and continuous improvement.
7. Continuous Improvement & Digitalization
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, TPM, and Kaizen initiatives.
Drive automation and digital tools (ERP, MES, production dashboards).
Support new product development and capacity expansion projects.
8. Customer & Cross-Functional Coordination
Collaborate with sales, engineering, and project teams to support customer commitments.
Participate in technical discussions with customers when required.
Ensure smooth execution of high-value and export orders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹100,000.00 - ₹150,000.00 per month
