Operations Manager

Position Title: Lab Operations Head
Department: Laboratory Administration / Operations
Reporting To: Directors / CEO

Role Overview

The Lab Operations Head is responsible for ensuring the smooth functioning of day-to-day laboratory operations, including workflow management, manpower, logistics, customer coordination, and cost efficiency. The role bridges technical and administrative functions to ensure operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all daily lab operations across departments or branches.
• Manage staffing, scheduling, and workload distribution for optimal productivity.
• Ensure timely processing, reporting, and dispatch of lab results.
• Coordinate between phlebotomy, logistics, technical, and customer service teams.
• Monitor inventory, procurement, and maintenance of instruments and consumables.
• Track Turnaround Time (TAT) and performance metrics for operational improvement.
• Implement process improvements for efficiency and cost control.
• Handle vendor relationships and service contracts for lab equipment.
• Support compliance with quality and safety protocols (in coordination with QA).
• Prepare operational reports and performance summaries for management.

Qualifications

• Graduate / Postgraduate in Life Sciences, Medical Lab Technology, or Healthcare Management
• MBA (Operations / Healthcare) preferred
• 5–10 years of experience in diagnostic laboratory operations or healthcare administration
