Operations Manager

One of our key customers, a market-leading onshore drilling contractor, is seeking an experienced and results-driven Operations Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of onshore drilling rig operations in Saudi Arabia.


This is a residential role requiring a visible, hands-on leader capable of managing multiple land rigs, leading Rig Managers, ensuring safe and efficient drilling operations, supporting business development activities, and driving continuous improvement across the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage day-to-day onshore drilling operations with a strong focus on safety, crew welfare, and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee all onshore rig activities to ensure contractual, regulatory, and safety obligations are fully met.
  • Establish, monitor, and report operational performance metrics on a quarterly and annual basis.
  • Ensure strict compliance with corporate policies, industry regulations, and local legal requirements.
  • Conduct regular rig site visits and chair weekly management meetings to support operational execution.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations to clients align with company safety standards and legal requirements.
  • Manage rig contracts and maintain strong relationships with clients to maximize operational and commercial value.
  • Support business development initiatives, including rig marketing, tendering, and client engagement.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop Rig Managers and direct reports through coaching, performance management, and professional development.
  • Plan rig scheduling and manage rig mobilizations, demobilizations, and transitions at contract commencement and completion.
  • Lead and support change initiatives and foster a culture of continuous improvement across onshore operations.
  • In collaboration with the HSE Manager, ensure the health, safety, and wellbeing of all personnel at rig sites.
  • Ensure procurement and logistics activities comply with company policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with the corporate office on commercial matters, including tenders, proposals, and contract negotiations.


Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in drilling rig operations, with proven experience in onshore/land rigs.
  • Demonstrated experience in a Senior Rig Superintendent or Operations Manager role.
  • Strong understanding of land rig drilling operations, logistics, and workforce management.
