Job Description
Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the forklift truck (FLT) to receive, offload, store & move supplies/materials to appropriate areas in & around the assigned plant operations.
Responsibilities
- Check inbound & outbound shipments, reporting any quality or quantity variances to a Supervisor to ensure all shipments are accurate & free of damage.
- Unload inbound shipments safely & move materials to appropriate areas to ensure goods are stored safely & securely.
- Issue packaging materials in accordance with production plans & instructions to ensure there are no unnecessary delay in supplies of materials to plant operations.
- Maintain accurate record and reports of packaging materials issued and returned from plant operations to assist in inventory management process.
- Inspect FLT on a daily basis in accordance with HSE regulations, performing minor maintenance where necessary & reporting any issues to reduce operational downtime & to ensure the health & safety of the operator.
- Responsible for general housekeeping in and around the work area ensuring there are no broken pallets or racks, work area is clear of any obstructions & trip & slip hazards to avoid accidents & delays to daily operations.
- Conduct any other duties or tasks as and when directed by a member of the logistics warehouse supervisory team &/or plant supervisory team to further support daily operations.
- Comply with company policies & procedures regarding discipline, health, safety & environment, reporting any issues of non-compliance to a supervisor to ensure that the service achieves is daily objectives & maintains high standards in all areas.
People Management
- Engages with the Warehouse team to ensure smooth daily operations, coordinates with Plant Operations and HSE teams to support safe and efficient plant activities, liaises with suppliers during material receipt and offloading, and works closely with the Security team to manage weighbridge data and delivery movements.
Product/Process Improvement
Qualifications Education & Certifications
- PREFERRED : FLT license is required. High school education is also required.
- MINIMUM FLT license is required. High school education is also required.
Knowledge & Skill
- Previous experience of operating a FLT in a busy warehouse environment is required and FLT basic maintenance.
- Adequate level of English to understand instruction is required.
- Good numeracy skills to ensure deliveries are accurately checked.
- Attention to detail to ensure deliveries are accurately checked.
Experience
- PREFERRED : 2-3 years previous experience of operating a FLT in a busy warehouse environment is required.
- MINIMUM : 2-3 years previous experience of operating a FLT in a busy warehouse environment is required.
