Optometry Receptionist

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and organized Optometry Receptionist to join our healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing appointment scheduling, patient intake, and medical records. Your energetic approach will ensure a smooth flow of daily operations, supporting both the clinical team and patients with professionalism and care. Responsibilities

  • Greet patients warmly and efficiently manage check-in and check-out processes using electronic health record (EHR) system.
  • Schedule appointments accurately, coordinate follow-up visits, and manage calendar updates to optimize clinic flow.
  • Collect payments, handle medical collections, and perform detailed documentation review to ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintain organized medical records, update patient information in EHR system.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems professionally, provide patient service support, and address inquiries with excellent phone etiquette.
  • Assist with insurance verification, intake procedures, and the preparation of care plans for patients requiring specialized eye care services.
  • Support clinic operations by filing documents, managing office supplies, and performing clerical tasks such as typing reports and maintaining accurate documentation.

Experience (preferred)

  • Prior experience working in a medical office environment is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems.
  • Experience with insurance verification processes including Medicare and other third-party payers.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with optometry practice management software.
  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding customer service in a fast-paced setting while maintaining attention to detail and confidentiality.
