Reports To: Nursing Head / Medical Superintendent

Job Summary

The OT Nurse Manager is responsible for the overall coordination, supervision, and efficient functioning of all Operation Theatres. The role includes managing clinical and administrative activities, leading the nursing team, coordinating with consultants and anesthetists, and ensuring adherence to patient safety and quality standards.

Key ResponsibilitiesClinical & Operational Management

• Oversee daily OT operations, schedules, and staff assignments to ensure timely and safe surgical procedures.
• Coordinate with consultants, surgeons, and anesthetists for procedural requirements, patient flow, and case management.
• Ensure compliance with infection control practices, sterilization protocols, and surgical safety standards.
• Monitor availability and functionality of medical supplies, equipment, and instruments.
• Assist in surgical procedures as required.

Coordination & Communication

• Communicate effectively with other departments such as Pathology, TPA, Cath Lab, ICU, Emergency, and Ward units to ensure smooth patient movement and documentation.
• Collaborate with consultants and surgical teams on OT planning, case mix, and clinical workflow improvement.

Team Management

• Lead, mentor, and supervise OT nursing staff, technicians, and support staff.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, training, and skill development programs.
• Promote teamwork, discipline, and accountability within the team.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Manage duty rosters, leave schedules, and manpower planning.
• Maintain accurate records of OT cases, equipment usage, consumables, and incident reports.
• Ensure adherence to NABH/JCI quality standards and hospital policies.
• Participate in audits, quality improvement activities, and emergency preparedness.

Qualifications

• GNM / B.Sc Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Valid nursing registration with the state council.
