Job Responsibilities – OT Technician (Dayal Eye Centre)
1. Operation Theatre Preparation
- Prepare the operation theatre before each surgery, ensuring cleanliness, sterility, and proper environmental conditions.
- Arrange and check all ophthalmic instruments, equipment, consumables, and disposables required for the scheduled surgeries.
- Ensure proper functioning of OT equipment such as operating microscope, phaco machine, vitrectomy machine, diathermy, and cautery.
2. Sterilization & Infection Control
- Perform cleaning, packing, sterilization, and documentation of OT instruments as per hospital infection control policies.
- Follow standard sterilization protocols (ETO, autoclave, plasma, or chemical sterilization as applicable).
- Maintain sterilization records, indicators, and logs as per NABH guidelines.
- Adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and universal precautions inside the OT.
3. Assistance During Surgery
- Assist ophthalmologists during surgical procedures such as cataract, glaucoma, retina, oculoplasty, and other eye surgeries.
- Hand over instruments, implants (IOLs), and consumables to the surgeon as per surgical requirements.
- Ensure correct patient, correct eye, correct procedure, and correct IOL as per the surgical checklist.
4. Patient Safety & Care
- Assist in shifting patients to and from the OT safely.
- Help in patient positioning and draping as per surgical protocol.
- Monitor patient comfort and immediately report any abnormal findings to the surgeon or anesthetist.
5. Inventory & Implant Management
- Maintain OT inventory including instruments, IOLs, sutures, viscoelastics, and disposables.
- Check expiry dates, batch numbers, and integrity of sterile packs and implants.
- Coordinate with stores and OT in-charge for timely indenting and replenishment of stock.
- Maintain implant usage and traceability records.
6. Documentation & Records
- Maintain OT registers including surgery register, sterilization logs, temperature and humidity records, and equipment checklists.
- Ensure proper labeling and documentation of implants used during surgery.
- Support compliance with NABH, NQAS, and internal audit requirements.
7. Equipment Care & Maintenance
- Perform routine cleaning, basic troubleshooting, and preventive care of OT equipment.
- Report equipment malfunction immediately to the OT in-charge or biomedical department.
- Coordinate with biomedical engineers during servicing and calibration.
8. Emergency & Protocol Compliance
- Be prepared to assist during OT emergencies and follow emergency protocols.
- Participate in mock drills, training programs, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Follow hospital policies, SOPs, and ethical standards at all times.
9. Team Coordination & Professional Conduct
- Coordinate effectively with surgeons, nurses, anesthetists, counselors, and housekeeping staff.
- Maintain discipline, punctuality, confidentiality, and professional behavior.
- Participate in OT meetings, trainings, and continuous skill development.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹15,000.00 - ₹25,000.00 per month
