This position will support the outreach mission of the Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension program by assisting with program and resource development. The position will create resources, plan workshops and conferences, and be a liaison with farmers. Job responsibilities include delivering and assisting with planning outreach program activities related to organic agriculture, strengthening partnerships with organic farmers, nonprofits, and industry members, and assisting with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. The candidate will be expected to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences. The candidate may also assist with tracking and managing the outreach program budget as needed.
This position can be full or part-time, between 50-100%.

Normal hours are 7:45am – 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional nights and weekends may be required for this position.

Organic crop, vegetable, livestock, and dairy production are significant contributors to Wisconsin’s agricultural systems and economy. Second in the nation in the number of organic farms, Wisconsin continues to be a leader in the organic industry. The University of Wisconsin Organic and Sustainable Agriculture Research and Extension program, led by Dr. Erin Silva, strives to support organic farmers and their families through its research and outreach efforts. With a farmer-first approach, the lab seeks solutions that are both environmentally sustainable and financially viable.
Compensation:
The anticipated salary range for this position is $60,000 - $70,000 annually. However, final salary will depend on experience and qualifications. Required qualifications:
Experience planning, delivering, and/or assisting in presenting workshops or conferences
Experience developing/strengthening partnerships with nonprofits and/or industry members
Experience assisting/facilitating daily program administration and activities
Preferred qualifications:
Experience tracking and managing an outreach program budget
Experience working in the farm industry and/or a higher education setting
Education:
Bachelor's Degree Preferred; focus in agriculture or related field preferred
