Overnight Pet Sitter

Position Overview

The Overnight Pet Sitter is responsible for providing continuous, in-home care for clients’ pets while the client is away. This role requires the sitter to stay overnight and remain in the client’s home throughout the duration of the assignment, ensuring pets receive consistent care, attention, and supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Stay overnight in the client’s home for the full duration of the booking
• Remain at the home during the day (no extended absences unless pre-approved)
• Provide feeding, fresh water, and administer medications if needed
• Follow all client instructions regarding pet care routines
• Provide companionship, exercise, and enrichment activities for pets
• Walk dogs and clean up waste as needed
• Maintain cleanliness of pet areas, including litter boxes, crates, and feeding areas
• Monitor pets for any signs of illness or distress and report concerns immediately
• Keep the home secure at all times (locking doors, monitoring visitors, etc.)
• Provide regular updates to clients (photos, messages, check-ins)

Home Care Duties

• Maintain general cleanliness and respect for the client’s home
• Follow house rules provided by the client
• Bring in mail/packages if requested
• Take out trash if needed
• Ensure lights, alarms, and other home systems are managed per instructions

Requirements

• Prior experience with pet care (professional or personal)
• Comfortable staying overnight in a client’s home for extended periods
• Reliable, trustworthy, and respectful of client property
• Ability to follow detailed instructions
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to handle emergencies calmly and responsibly

Expectations

• Treat the client’s home and pets with the highest level of care and respect
• Maintain a professional and dependable presence throughout the stay
• Limit time away from the home unless explicitly approved
• Provide a safe, calm, and attentive environment for all pets

Schedule & Commitment

• Overnight stays required
• Continuous presence in the home during the booking period
• Duration may range from 1 night to multiple weeks depending on client needs

Compensation

(To be determined based on experience, number of pets, and length of stay)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Seasonal

Pay: $21.25 - $59.75 per day
