Overnight Pet Sitter - Independent Contractor

About the Role:

Safe and Sound Pet Sitting is seeking an experienced, professional pet care provider to join our growing team as an independent contractor. We serve clients throughout the greater Charlottesville area, providing overnight pet sitting and in-home care.

This role is ideal for animal care professionals seeking flexible, well-compensated work with autonomy and professional support.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide overnight pet sitting and drop-in visits for clients
• Administer medications (oral and injectable)
• Follow detailed pet care instructions
• Provide daily photo/video updates to clients
• Handle emergency situations professionally
• Maintain excellent client communication

Required Qualifications:

• 2+ years of professional pet care experience (pet sitting, vet tech, animal shelter, kennel management, or similar)
• Reliable transportation and valid driver's license
• Experience caring for multiple pet types (dogs, cats, small animals)
• Comfortable administering medications
• Clean background check
• Professional references
• Pet sitter liability insurance (or willing to obtain)
• Available for some weekends and holidays

Preferred Qualifications:

• Veterinary technician background
• Pet first aid/CPR certified
• Experience with special needs pets
• Prior experience with overnight care

Compensation & Benefits:

• 75/25 revenue split (contractor retains 75%)
• Overnight visits: $52.50 per visit (from $70 service fee)
• 60-minute drop in visits: $33.75 per visit
• 30-minute drop in visits: $22.50 per visit
