Paralegal / Investigative Analyst

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal / Investigative Analyst to support our Logistics, Legal and Compliance operations within a multi-state rental and rent-to-own company. This role focuses on investigating potential criminal wrongdoing by customers, preparing and initiating criminal referrals, coordinating with law enforcement and district attorneys, and conducting in-depth reviews of customer accounts in coordination with our Logistics Department. The ideal candidate combines strong paralegal skills with investigative instincts and the ability to manage sensitive matters with professionalism and discretion.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct investigations into suspected criminal activity involving customer accounts, including failure to return rental property, fraud, and related matters
  • Gather, analyze, and organize evidence (contracts, payment histories, communications, GPS data, photos, and other records)
  • Prepare criminal referral packages and supporting documentation for submission to law enforcement agencies and district attorneys
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with law enforcement, prosecutors, internal stakeholders, and outside partners
  • Perform legal research related to criminal statutes, rental and leasing laws, and procedural requirements across multiple jurisdictions
  • Draft clear, accurate, and well-organized written materials, including summaries, affidavits, timelines, and investigative reports
  • Maintain organized document management systems to ensure records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready
  • Track deadlines, follow up on open investigations, and manage multiple matters simultaneously
  • Assist with internal compliance efforts and support logistics, attorneys and leadership as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Legal research and writing proficiency
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask effectively
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Technical proficiency with document management systems, salesforce, databases, and Microsoft Office (or similar platforms)
  • Experience with evidence gathering and analysis
  • Solid understanding of legal procedures and terminology (criminal and/or civil preferred)
  • Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion
  • Self-motivated, analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Paralegal certificate or equivalent legal/investigative experience
  • Experience working with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, or in compliance, investigations, or asset protection roles
  • Familiarity with multi-state legal or regulatory environments
  • Background in rental, legal, finance, collections, or consumer-facing industries
