Summary: We are seeking a Paralegal/Legal Assistant to perform various office duties

Job Title: Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Location: New York, NY 10007

Target Work Schedule: Monday to Friday 9:00AM-5:00PM

Target Duration/End Date: January 2028

Description of Roles and Responsibilities:

· Experience with the coordination of logistics for the Direct Referral hearing process Ability to work independently on multiple case hearing details

· Proficient with operation of postage meter and process for sending documents by certified mail

· Experience fielding incoming calls, determining the legal subject that the caller is calling about, and routing caller to appropriate attorney or refer to appropriate program area

· Proficient in coordinating service of legal documents

· Experience with processing of invoices for process service companies

· Experience working in the Division of Legal Affairs

· Knowledge of the organizational structure

· Good communication skills both written and verbal

· Works well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment

· Able to maintain an organized workspace

· Reliable, efficient, and flexible

· Able to work independently and effectively

· Eager to learn and grow in any position

· Able to work with personal and confidential information in a professional manner

· Able to understand and interpret laws and other legal documents

· Detail oriented, quality conscious, strong prioritizing skills, highly organized

· Proficiency with the operation of Cisco telephone system

· Ability to work overtime on short notice

Mandatory/Minimum Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

Associate’s Degree (Bachelor’s Degree preferred) 2+ years of experience as a Paralegal/Must have Paralegal certification

Qualification, Skills, Experience Requirements:

· 2 + years of experience with legal, compliance operations and/or document Management; knowledge of Microsoft Office products; strong written and oral communications; excellent attention to detail and organizational skills; effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to manage multiple time-sensitive projects, and to coordinate with various parties to help complete them.

· Applicable knowledge of motions, evidence, litigation documentation, court rules, and procedures, practices

· Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment

· Extensive computer and database expertise; Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Relativity (Preferred), Westlaw Case Notebook (Preferred)

· Facility with managing voluminous documents electronically, e.g., in a shared folder or in Microsoft SharePoint

· Trial experience preferred, with added preference for experience in New York State courts

· Candidate(s) with a strong attention to detail, a high level of quality, strong problem-solving skills, dependability and demonstrated priority and time management skills

· Candidates should have a working knowledge of contract terminology, including the ability to recognize contract structures, as well as key contract terms

· Familiarity with procurement contracts is a plus

· Knowledge of government contracts is helpful but not required

· Knowledge of Relativity EDiscovery platform

· Good communication skill is a must

· Working knowledge of office equipment, computer hardware and scanner

· Detail oriented, accurate and thorough
