Position Summary
Patterson Mold & Tool, LLC, a leading precision machining, tool & die, and aerospace manufacturing company established in 1978, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time IT Intern passionate about building a career in information security.
This internship focuses primarily on supporting our cybersecurity compliance efforts through documentation creation, updates, and the collection of objective evidence. The role also includes occasional general software and hardware support as needed.
This is an excellent opportunity for a student or recent graduate to gain practical experience in cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) in a manufacturing environment while contributing directly to our organization’s security posture and regulatory readiness (including support for standards such as ISO 9001, AS9100, and ITAR requirements).
Key Responsibilities
- Primary Focus (70–80% of time):
- Create, update, and maintain cybersecurity policies, procedures, standards, and work instructions.
- Gather, organize, and compile objective evidence (screenshots, logs, reports, configurations, etc.) to support compliance efforts.
- Assist with mapping controls to compliance requirements and tracking remediation efforts.
- Support internal audits and evidence readiness reviews.
- Secondary Duties (20–30% of time):
- Provide general IT support including basic hardware troubleshooting, software installation, and user account assistance.
- Help maintain asset inventories and configuration documentation.
- Perform other IT or security-related tasks as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Strong interest in pursuing a career in information security, particularly in compliance, governance, or risk management.
- Excellent written communication skills and exceptional attention to detail (critical for documentation and evidence work).
- Strong organizational and research abilities.
- Basic understanding of IT concepts (operating systems, networks, cloud services).
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with high integrity.
- Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working independently on documentation-heavy tasks.
- Must be able to work on-site at our St. Charles, MO facility.
Preferred Skills & Experience
- Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks (NIST, ISO 27001, CIS Controls, etc.).
- Experience creating technical documentation, spreadsheets, or process maps.
- Basic knowledge of Windows/Linux environments and common productivity tools (Microsoft 365, etc).
- Previous exposure to compliance, auditing, or IT support (class projects or entry-level roles).
- Entry-level certifications are a plus (CompTIA Security+, IT Fundamentals, or similar).
