Part Time Payroll Specialist

Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Clerk to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely payment to employees, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of financial concepts and experience with payroll systems. As a part of this position, duties include fielding phone calls from clients, answering payroll needs, or finding the answer, taking client’s payroll information over the phone, fax or email, and ultimately ensuring client satisfaction. The Payroll Clerk will play a crucial role in supporting the overall financial health of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Process payrolls for clients, ensuring accuracy in hours worked and deductions.
• Maintain employee records related to payroll, including benefits administration and tax information.
• Utilize payroll software to manage payroll functions effectively.
• Reconcile payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
• Prepare reports on payroll data for client review.
• Ensure compliance with governmental accounting regulations and standards.
• Assist with the administration of employee benefits as needed.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or concerns.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Payroll Clerk or in a similar role within finance or accounting.
• Strong knowledge of financial concepts, including debits and credits.
• Familiarity with payroll software is highly desirable.
• Understanding of governmental accounting practices is a plus.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and integrity.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
